Q&A with M.R.
1. Who birthed you & where were they when they did it?
My momma is just a small-town girl by the name of Gloria from Plant City,
Florida. She gave me life in Brandon, Florida, just 20 minutes down the road.
2. What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Sailor Moon and Digimon blew my mind as a kid, and to this day, I’m still a
little anime nerd.
3. Amy Kong stole your heart. How did she do it?
The love of my life won me over by asking me out on our first date without me
knowing what it was until halfway through. We were so comfortable as friends
that the romance didn’t hit me till maybe around the 3rd bar.
4. If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what
would it be?
“Sports” by the Viagra Boys. It’s good shit, I promise.
5. What’s your favorite city & why?
NYC, baby. I lived there for the latter half of my 20s. Met my wife there, gained
an appreciation and pride for what I do there, learned a lot about myself and
what I’m capable of, and whenever I go back to visit, I feel more at home than
even my hometown.
6. Someone offers you $100 to lick the bottom of their shoe. Would you
do it?
No, but I know a guy in Tampa you should talk to.
7. What’s your go-to drink?
That's actually the hardest question to answer so far. Right now, it’s coffee since
I’m not drinking booze as much these days, but it's been everything from Irish
Boulevardiers to a shot of Montenegro. Or even back in the day, when you could
still find it easily, Green Chartreuse on the rocks.
8. What’s the one thing you do that drives your wife insane?
The way I fold our towels at home. Been together for 8 years and still can’t do it right.
9. Tell us your perfect day.
Wake up early on a crisp fall day, put on a chill record or something while I
make coffee and breakfast for my wife and I. Go for a walk through a woodsy
park while playing Pokémon GO. Go home and either spend hours in my garage
doing some woodworking or working on a painting, all while listening to a true
crime podcast. Grab a Pub Sub for lunch, then get back to what I was doing.
Take a quick nap with my cats and wife on the couch. Grab dinner at a nice
spot we’d never been to before and really take it all in, then maybe a cocktail
bar after. Head home for another record and late-night tea. Passout.
10. A mystical genie pops out of one of your liquor bottles & grants you
three wishes. What are they?
1- My cats live as long as I do.
2- American politics finally calms the hell down, and we can all enjoy our lives
again.
3- Lastly, and selfishly, I had enough time and money to just paint everything I
wanted to.
